Oh foolish me, I should have said more versatile for me and most other photographers. Which is why in the next year the 100-400 will outsell the 200-400 by 1,000 to 1 or more. I wonder why Certainly can't be because it is more versatile. A 200-400 that most people can't afford does not make it very versatile.
What a silly conversation. Boys please, how about we celebrate the images, the photographers that can master such amazing tools, and through their efforts; prose and experiences, gain some insight/knowledge to further our art.
It's becoming clear Canon has created another magnificent, wonderful zoom. It's at the top of it's class and in a lens type 'the zoom' which is versatile, has great utility, by nature. And, it's only the fool that would argue such.
It could be a Rebel with a 75-300, a 40D/7D with a 100-400L or 1DX with a 200-400L...does it really matter what's in hand as long as we're enjoying the experience, creating images that bring a smile. How about remembering where we started in this art, how wonderful the journey and just revel in our own art, as well as those that manage with bigger guns.
Be happy in the fact that you can shoot, have the gift of a photographic eye and the means to afford any of these marvelous tools to indulge your passion!
