I made down to the lake this morning. Last night the weatherman said partly cloudy today, but by this morning, it had become mostly cloudy. The flash usually stays in the Pelican case because of limited room in the yak, but I decided to use it because of the low light.
Anyway, there was a GBH in one of my favorite spots to shoot them, so I took my time approaching it, and did not spook it, so I managed a number of shots while hoping it would catch a fish, and it finally did. I saw maybe a half a dozen GBH this morning, and got a few keepers.
All shot hand held from the yak using a Better Beamer for fill flash. As always, C&C appreciated ~ Ron

1) I missed the grab, and it turned away from me as soon as it caughtthe fish.

2) It turned back to me as it swallowed the fish.

3) After swallowing the fish it continued to hunt.

4) It eventually flew. I only got one sharp shot, and that was wtih the boat storage area in the BG. I'm posting the shot anyway to show the nice underside detail the flash produced.

5) The 1D4 sure captures some great detail.
