I have a t3i and am supposed to get a 60d from someone who needs money pretty. I was planning on selling the 60d, I think the t3i is good for me but if the 60d is a lot better I would keep it and sell my t3i.

In canon land, you pay more for features not IQ. Why not, keep the free features

Basically the same sensor in both. 60D adds a few features. In my view it wouldn't be worth the money.

I liked the 60D over the T3i which I owned as well. The feature that was most important to me was the option of changing different types of focusing screens.

I like the 60D's larger size and pentaprism instead of penta mirror.

60D also has all cross AF points in comparison to the T3i. There are many sites that will compare all the features of a camera. If it's worth it to you then do it. If not then save on accessories/glass.

Focusing is pretty decent on the 60D, it isn't the 7D (which I owned a few years ago), but pretty darn good, better than any rebel series that I have ever owned, for sure. Better build, too. I would lose the T3i before the 60D.

Or a 6D. It focuses in the dark . My 60D sure as hell didn't do that...

just my thoughts ... what I would do

I think you will see very little difference in Image Quality between any recent APS-C sensors (7D and 70D included).
If you want 7D for better focusing, or 70D for video auto-focus that may be a reason to choose them.

If it were me I would choose a full frame sensor 6D for improved image quality.

I like having a larger body in my hands if weight is not an issue. I also like the higher frame rate of the 60D for capturing wildlife and such. Just some thoughts.

Yes, it's the same 18MP sensor so IQ will be similar

The 60D is bigger/heavier, which for some makes it easier to handle, but others prefer the smaller/lighter size of the rebel especially if you're carrying it all day

It takes a different battery of course (have you already bought spare battery/s for your rebel?)

60D viewfinder is bigger, which makes it easier to compose and focus, and I think the AF is also better. The external controls are better (more external buttons for faster setting changes; rear wheel is useful for changing exposure compensation quickly, the wheel also handy for scrolling through images)

Try them both out and see which you prefer, then sell the other one

I exchanged a T3i for a 60D back when I first bought my 60D. The T3i's only advantage is that it's smaller and lighter. Since you'll have access to both, try taking photos with both cameras and draw your own conclusion. For me, the 60D fits better in my hand and ergonomically it was just better. Other than that, specs wise the 60D also happens to have 8 more cross-type focus points. Personally, I'm not a focus and refocus type and I use all the focus points.
