p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Need opinion on selecting umbrella size

Hi,
I'm going to shoot at an event (small on-location studio portrait). The space is kind of small 10ft x 14ft.
And i don't want to set up 2 umbrellas due to limited space.

So i'm thinking just one big umbrella and one background light. Which size of umbrella do you recommend between 60" and 72"? The session will be half and full body with a group of 2 or 4 people.

THanks.

In a 10x14 room, it won't matter much between a 5 foot umbrella and a 6 foot umbrella. They are both going to spray light every where. For 2-4 people in a room that small, a 42 inch would be much more manageable.

You also need to think of you ceiling height. Do you have enough height to be able to have the umbrella pointed down at all?

In a room that small you will want to take note of the color of the walls also. With a big umbrella throwing light everywhere you can get a color cast.
