Phillip Reeve, in the Alt thread, shared some great classic car pictures. Car photograpy does have it's own charecteristics and difficulties. Maybe time to share some (classic) car shots done with your Canon EOS in this thread? Thanks for your inspiration Phillip!

Let me start with an image of an iconic European car: the Volkswagen T1. The T1 with trailer was shot with the 1Ds mk III and 35L wide open. Not corrected for vignetting because I liked the vignette while this public event was very crowded and wide open shooting with the thin DOF helped to focus the attention on the cars. Postprocessing done in Lightroom for getting rid of the nasty longitudinal chromatic aberrations (LoCa) that showed frequently especially in the chrome parts of the cars.

Enjoy the EOSfun

I'll bite, snapped these while shooting a friend's kid's soccer game, parked a few streets away I couldn't resist.
Shot with a 40D and 24-85...around 4pm on a rather sunny SoCal afternoon...

Great to hear that Jerry, thanks! Anyway besides the two of us, there must be more FM fellows with "gas in the blood"

Let me add one for Wilhelm (wfrank) another inspiring photographer at the alt-board. Just to show he is better photographer than I am and because he owns the most beautiful Volvo. Hopefully the leaking gas tank has been repaired

Great shot Jerry! THX for sharing, Chevrolet Master?

Yes, 37 or 41, it was 2 yrs ago, went back a few weeks later and it had been sold, only got 3 shots, posted the best. I've a side view but it has a shadow of a street sign partially in the driveway, need to clone it out or something, I'll post it if you like, have suggestions. The 3rd shot is so so, same sign/shadow issue.

Love finding old well kept cars not in showrooms, it's why at lease my G12 is always with me, got lucky and had the 40D...I'll add the other 2 shots just for grins...

I've a friend with a 63 Bug, he's just finishing up some body work, once painted/detailed, I post some images. He's been working on it for 3 years, it as stock as is possible, very clean. Hopefully I'll get a good set of images of it, going to shoot it with a newly acquired 1D Mark II N, see how those 8.2mp hold up

My car luv started when I was a wee lad, my dad refurbished cars/bikes; his hobby. Think I was 6 or 7 when I cleaned my first carburetor; was a good goffer for my dad, learned a ton in the process! And back in the late 60's, a neighbor had a 1950 Ford Coupe he bracket raced at various drag strips here in SoCal. Got to work in the pits, shoot with an Instamatic

Gasoline and speed...oh ya

Another Chevrolet, and a few details. It's a Bel Air from 1959. I liked the Kennedy campaign sticker. Fits perfectly to the car and it's era

Nice shots of a '59 Bel Air!

Here's another, 40D with 24-85, shot on a very overcast afternoon in Laguna Beach! It's a '55 Chevy Bel Air, one of my favorites, my dad had a midnight blue '57 with the fins in the back. Luv all the chrome on these beauties

Many of you know me through my radio control event coverage but the fact is my day job is auto restoration so these are photos of either cars I've restored, service or were shot for an insurance appraisal. I'll limit my images to a few at a time to see it the thread keeps running successfully.

Wow, this is great EOSfun here! You guys have some wonderful car shots! Funny to see a Dutch regsitered Alpine from Spain shroud72. That is a 1973 Alpine, and it's indeed a very rare car in great condition.

Andy, I like this kind of classics, because the Japanese Classic somehow get less attention from collectors and car enthusiast and therefor seem to be very exclusive cars. This Nissan Skyline GT-R is a very rare car, because most of them were sold as a coupe, while this 4 drs was less popular.

Larry, you have a wonderful set of American sports car icons there! Great to see another side of your craftmanship, Not only a good photographer, but a great car restorer too! Thanks for sharing, we look forward to see more of your EOS-car shots

Jeremy a Gallardo spider is already a classic when it leaves the factory isn't it? Is it you with the bride

Another European classic: the Saab 96 Estate. This one is in condition like new from 1969. The camera and lens used are my own classics: the 1Ds mk III and the 35L

Not sure if this qualify as "classic car". But it's more than 70 years old

Massimo, that's definitely a classic. It's probably less popular for reasons that have to do with war history, but from a car historical perspective this is an interesting survivor of the war. Thanks for sharing your shot.

Proper classic transport. Much more Eosfun than those tiny oil-burning rollerscates everyone is obsessed with nowadays...

As far as I know there are only around a dozen Horch 108 worldwide still in running order, plus a few more static samples

The history behind this vehicles isn't fully clear. It's definitely an early Dodge truck from WW II (see the curved radiator). Then, at some point, it was adapted to fire brigade usage:

It would be a rare classic if it was legit but it's just a nice small block car converted to a big block with an overdrive auto trans & 4:10 gears. I'll dig up the appraisal set tonight but I have this on line already.
(PS, my screen name is derived from having owned another rare classic which was legit, the COPO Camaro of 69 which is another car that Don Yenko helped get marketed).

On another note GREAT STUFF from all of you across the pond. You're showing me things I've never seen before but enjoy seeing.
