Can anyone recommend any books and free online resources to help learn post processing techniques, colour correction etc? I realise it's a huge part of tweaking an image to get it just right, so I'd love to learn as much as I can.

thanks!

I might help to know what software you are using for your post processing.

don't do it. the kosher way is to concentrate on what you do well and what brings you the dollars. just farm out pp work. there are tons of talented retouchers all over the world who are hungry for work.

Using photoshop & Lightroom (for bulk work)

I know I could hire someone to do it. But for now this is a learning period in which I'm trying to learn and understand as much as possible.

That's the best advice I have ever heard being given to a non-professional photographer. It is both wise, in that (insert name) needn't learn anything, and economically sound, since (insert name) is earning so much from his/her portrait work that outsourcing PP makes fiscal sense.
