You're my hero. Do you hike these trails solo?
I'm trying to get my friends at 29 and 27 to camp overnight and/or hike 10 miles. It's proving challenging. We'll be in the park December 13, 14, 15. What should we cover during those days? Hopefully I'l prevail.
Hi 1800Gambler,
Many thanks for your most welcome and kind comments. Yes, most of these long distance day hikes have been done solo, except for a few with my son and daughter.
It's possible to hike in the lowland valleys of Olympic in December, but weather conditions- heavy rain, snow and cold can be a challenge, to stay dry and warm. A 10-mile day is doable, but prepare for wet, uncomfortable winter conditions with tent, stove, extra food/fuel and dry clothing: wet weather in the Olympics can be a test for so-called waterproof gear, Gortex included or otherwise :-)
Good luck in your adventure, travel prepared.
Bob
