Hi Dalmas & Dennist great landscape settings with heavy duty steamers, a strange colour river water in the animas river.

On a sad note a steam train photographer was killed on the West Coast South Island, ran over too close to the tracks, & I guess busy looking through the view finder

Thanks. I'm not sure why its like that, but that really is the color of the river.

Took a little trip to the Mt. Rainier Scenic Railroad out of Elbe, WA. This steam locomotive was built for the Polson Brothers Logging Company (Hoquiam, WA) in the early 1920's by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in Philadelphia PA and was used for logging and hauling coal in western Washington until the 1970s.

This engine, along with a few others, are currently used as part of the Mt. Rainier Scenic Railroad excursions.

Night shoot at the Fiztwater Yard of the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad

The 765 is one of a famous class of steam locomotives called the Berkshire; one known for its “superpower” technology and aesthetic charm.

The men and women of the Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society saved the 765 from becoming a rusting monument in a city park and restored it to operating condition in 1979.

For fourteen years thereafter, the 765 would run special excursion trains around the country to the delight of 100,000 passengers. From 1993 to 2005, the 765 was completely rebuilt, and is now more than ready to reach another hundred thousand people.

The Leviathan #63, a modern-day replica of an 1860s-era locomotive that participated in the Golden Spike ceremony in Utah, ran a trip in New York recently. Here it is before it did its 40-mile round trip. The replica burns oil instead of wood, and I wish this one had burned wood. It would have smelled a whole lot better!

Here is the engine on its only run-by of the day. Too bad about the power lines but they couldn't be helped.

Terry,

Do you have any more photos the Mt. Rainier Scenic Railroad you could post. Hopefully some that show a little more of the locomotive.

Can't let this disappear...

Here's a shot of the Soo Line 2719 crossing over Tischer Creek in Duluth, MN. It was temporarily marked as DM&IR 403 on the engineer side for a photo charter later in the weekend.
