A recent thread on the Canon 50mm f/0.95 rangefinder lens (link below) clued me into the fact that the native mount on this lens needs to be converted to a more common mount, like Leica M or Leica Thread Mount (LM/LTM), or even better (for me) Fujifilm X mount. Does anybody know where I could get this conversion done, supposing I actually get my hands on one of them?

I assume the same would have to be done for a Canon 35/2 rangefinder lens, too.

Thanks,
Jim

If that's the right fit to the Canon then this goes direct to the Fuji

Steve Huff recommended DAG for cleaning and conversion in a review of this lens (converted for Leica).

The (WONDERFUL) Canon 35/2 is a simple LTM lens. Any LTM-M or LTM-X adapter will work, no reason to do surgery on the lens.

Here's the back of the 50/0.95.

It does look like it will fit one of the ebay s-mount adapters, but that screw might get in the way. I guess that's why they make Dremmels though..

Try this then look for one of the images that show the back of the lens

Thanks for the leads, Mike. I have detailed photos of the lens mount. I guess the next thing to determine is if the Nikon S rangefinder mount is the same as the Canon S rangefinder mount. The S to X adapter would be a very convenient solution.

Hi Chris,

Thanks. That's what I figured, and that's how it's listed in Lens$db. OTOH, I also had the 50/0.95 listed as LTM, which turns out to be wrong. The 35/2 is listed in the same S-series as the 50/0.95 at the Canon Museum. I have about the same amount of clarity on this issue as I have on early Leica lens variants - i.e. very little.

The Canon S mount is LTM, which is nothing like Nikons S mount.
of the Canon RF lenses, only the 0.95 is bayonet, and only the Canon 7 RF can accept it.
The correct adapter for Fuji X:

Man, the 35/2 would really be an awesome little lens on a X or NEX body. I need to grab another lol

I'll have to wait until the "what if" fund grows large enough...

I have the earlier 35/2.8 and it is sharp and tiny.
I have a few more LTM lenses now that are not in this pic, the 35/2.8 is 2nd from the left.

Was thinking the same...
I keep hearing its one of the sharpest LTM 35's, the 50/1.4 is popular too.
I do want one, but I've been busy getting chrome LTM lenses

Yeah, I recently picked up the Canon 35/2 LTM for use on the M9 and was also surprised at how decent it was. Wide open the edges go pretty soft but the center is already quite sharp. Stopping it down past f/5.6 and I'd never know it was a 50 year old lens. Wide open bokeh can be a bit busy, but I like it. Lens flare can be interesting. Color balance is a bit cooler than all the other LTM/M lenses I have. I also have the Canon 50/1.4 LTM and they seem to have similar characteristics (sharpness, smoothness, color, though flare is different). I've posted some on the M8/M9 thread, but not a lot. Also a handful in a Flickr set.

Thanks for the correct links James. Sorry for the confusion ...
The 50/1.4 is excellent by the way. And it is a normal LTM mount.

The Canon 50/1.5 is supposed to be sharp wide open if you can find one with no haze, I've been on the hunt for one, but found a nice Topcor-S 50/2 & a Super Rokkor 50/2, so the Canon will have to wait.

Nice shots with the 35 Ron, I really like the window shot. I also realized I didn't have you as a Flickr contact, fixed that.
