I just got an Epson V 600 film scanner last week. I am really impressed with the results from my 35 mm color negatives and 120 color negatives. My only comments are that if they made the scanner bed 1/4 of an inch longer or so, I could scan 4 120 negatives instead of 3. I have to flip the 120 strip end for end to get the fourth image. Also, the film holders are so flimsy that I am afraid of breaking them each time I change the negative. Can anyone recommend a heavier duty negative holder in the 120 size as that is what I am concentrating on first.
The scanner does a great job on the Pro Mode. I wish I had bought it years ago.

yes and no. I have the 500 and a good scanner it is but neither one will hold a candle to a dedicated slide scanner. they are excellent for general work in 35mm and better in larger films like 120 and above. they tend to smear a little at the grain level. been there still using my coolscan 4000ED.

If I only had 35 mm negatives, I would have gone with a regular film scanner instead of the flatbed, but I have hundreds of 120 negatives.

I read a lot about film scanners before I bought the Epson V 600. Most people said that a flatbed did not do justice to color negatives, that you needed a Nikon Coolscan. I am really surprised at the results that I am getting on this scanner. I just finished some old color prints that had faded over 40 years and I was pleasantly surprised at how well the colors came out. If these results are just fair, then the Coolscan results must be really spectacular. I haven't even tried the Vue Scan software to see the difference.

Back in the day I scanned 120/220 with the Nikon 8000ED. The 120 megapickle files were rather slow to process on even a nice 2002 computer. The results were beautiful though.

I want to thank everyone here for all their input to my post. I'll try to post a couple of pictures from these scanned negatives. I haven't had very good luck before, but here they are. They may be links instead of image

If you don't want to go to a link I understand.

If you go to the first link of the silver haired woman, you can hit the left arrow and see the other three pictures I posted. The b&w is the only one from a 35mm negative posted. The others are all 120 color negatives.
