Canon EOS 6D DSLR body for $1,499 shipped

eBay's Big Value Inc. is now selling brand new Canon EOS 6D DSLRs for $1,499 with free shipping.

According to the listing, quantities are limited. Outside of Ebay, a brand new Canon 6D currently goes for $1,899.

I saw that. I asked them a question regarding what's included: the information specifies that the camera is the USA version, but the description of what's in the box does not list a warranty card.

Does anyone know anything about this?

As in all such "sales," due diligence is required. www.resellerratings.com is the best source IMHO for checking out the integrity of any seller or commercial reseller. YMMV

I bought the camera when it was $1499 knowing that I won't get a warranty and that it will probably be a body with a kit box. I got the camera today, indeed only the body came in the kit box (the body and the EF 24-105 f/4L USM) but to my surprise it came with a warranty card. Not a preregistered as someone mentioned in their reviews on resellerratings.com but indeed a new one that let me register the camera on canon's website.

I also got my 6D from Big Value a few months ago for a great price and I've been very happy with it. It came brand new in the kit box (without the lens), all original accessories and US warranty card. Registration with Canon USA went through without any problem. I wouldn't hesitate to buy from them again.

I have a question not necessarily about big value. Generally speaking, how is someone to know if they are buying from a first or second retailer. I hadn't heard of grey market until I was a couple of years into photography. If I were to ask for a certain product as a Christmas present how would my son or whomever know whether the seller is retailer one or two?
It seems that this is putting the onus on the buyer not just for cameras but electronics and any other type of product marketed in this way.

Usually if the product sells for X in a retail store and you find it elsewhere for 65% of the price it is most likely grey market (that's how I see it). But as far as grey or regular...they are both made in the same factory but destined to sell in different countries so the only issue is warranty.
