At the bottom of the narrow canyon, the natural tendency is to look up at those magnificent 2,000-foot sheer sandstone walls.
Sometimes it pays to look down because there are more things than rattlesnakes there.
I'm sorta teasing: in the dozens of times I've been to Zion, I saw a rattler only once, and I had to swerve my car to miss him. I hopped out and it wanted nothing except to get the hell away from me.
I think I heard it muttering something about "Those damn tourist drivers!"
But I couldn't be sure .
