Thanks for the update rdcny- I don't check the DPReview forums often.
I took the 24-105L to an event over the weekend, and quickly bagged it in favor of faster primes; and then, I could really have used the 24-70 focal length. While I'm interested in Sigma's claim of a 24-70/2 OS in development, the Tamron is just about perfect- as long as I can get a great copy of it. It would largely replace my 24/2.8, 40/2.8, 50/1.4, and 85/1.8 for such photography, and would preclude the need for me to carry my SY14/2.8 for most things. Granted, only the 24/2.8 is on the chopping block, as I literally don't use it enough on FF like I did on crop; and I couldn't give up the 40's 'stealth' appeal, the 50/1.4 for low-light and wider portraits, or the 85/1.8 for closer portraits, of course.
Only problem is that I'm much more interested in a 70-200/2.8 IS II, where I think Canon still has Tamron solidly beaten, in the long-end and action AF departments especially, where I'd want to use a fast telezoom the most.
So, I guess I'll be saving up .
