Chuck thanks - it's not SOOC. In camera b/w then a bit of high pass and "curves lightened" on the eyes, goggles and the strap across the front of the helmet. oh, and a bit just above his eyes/nose.
I should add that my in camera settings are quite flat to allow for post production on JPG's.
However the main thing was asking him to move from the car park back towards the trees where the light fell better. The other portraits in the flat light today didn't work.
