Great overall, some are a bit processed. Particularly 14, dress looks silver, not white.

For me, #18 is the best- it has an etherreal, painted look to it.

I like #12 because the bride & her expression stand out so much.

Nice. It has been raining quite a bit in the past few weekends in CO.

your natural light stuff is great. The flashy stuff falls short for me. The group posing is also a little over the top IMO.
Wedding looked fun.

See you in CO

Thanks hardly. I'm still learning the "flashy" stuff. The group stuff is what they wanted. Im usually super boring on the group stuff, but hey, that's what they wanted. I appreciate the criticism.

Can I ask "why" the light fell short for you? I'm always trying to get better at the "flashy stuff"

IMO you are either a flash heavy shooter or you are not. It is REALLY hard to successfully blend the two styles. Some people can do it...
Your natural light stuff is really organic and heartfelt. Your flash stuff seems flashed just because. No real reason. 19 is your best flash shot but it is overly staged IMO. It is cool but does not have much emotion. You show so much emotion the rest of the set and then the flash stuff is like "OK lets all be models now". If they are models and do "poses" like that cool, but if not then to me it just looks forced.

Use light to sculpt a photo. You can create contrast with it, lead the eye with it, blend elements with it, etc. If you just use it because it looks cool then in the end you are left with a mediocre shot that kinda looks cool.

This is all just personal opinion but I would rather see the little moments between couples, their real expressions, etc. The lights go up and, at least for me, some of the emotion goes away. I am also speaking in general terms and with my own shooting NOT just about your shots.

I find that a lot of people use flash just to use flash for the "ew ahhh" effect. I don't use much light because quite frankly I suck at it and would rather not subject my couples to my amateur attempts. That is not to say one should not practice or try it (that is the only way we get better)... I just would not show it until it was perfected.

THanks, I appreciate that great critique. I'll have to delve into books and look at my own style and heart and see how I can get better at the flashy stuff as you put it.

Actually, that was probably one of the best critiques I've received. Thank you! I'm really thinking now.
