Oops!
Are you here looking for the D300/s replacement call D400?
Sorry to have to disappoint, because they just announced another L model by the name of L620.

18 Megapixel
f3.3-5.9, 25-350mm 14x Mega Zoom lens
3-inch 460K-dot resolution LCD
with lots of scene-recognition auto mode, but no manual control
Can record 1080p, 30 fps movies.
Link is still under construction and will be up shortly.

Please stay tune for a DX and a couple of FX announcement soon, but with no guarantee it will be out next week, next month or next year.

I really love your response because I was expecting the first reply to be acid or Molotov cocktail thrown at me.
Within 5 minutes of this post already attracted over 60 hits.
No wonder Thom Hogan likes to spread rumors about the forth and coming new cameras because it can really attract high traffic to his site.

Have you read the specs on some of these "crappy P&S camera"s lately? I've seen them with facial recognition algorithms so sophisticated they warn you if someone in a group has their eyes closed. Show me the dslr that does that.

Ha...Ha...There are some days when I woke up and wants to do good deeds and then there are other days that I woke up and wants to do evil. This is one of those very few days that I want to do evil. The moment I press the SUBMIT button I knew that I will be condemned.
But than we have to laugh it out sometime rather than fight it out all the time.

Hey! Guys, lets not start a war here.
It is okay if Andre wants to fart in this direction, but he will be the first to smell it and by the time it travelled half way around the world, it would be so diluted we wouldn't smell it here, and if we do we'll know where it is coming from.

Well, it still is a Nikon mount since it is made by Nikon.
If you own one you can always name it EB-1.

I took a point and shoot to a rehearsal dinner party and was trying to get a picture of the sister. I could not get the camera to take the picture. It took me a few minutes to figure out that somehow it had gotten changed to " SMILE " and would not work because she was not smiling or too far away. Needless to say, I took it out of that mode and have never used it again. When I want a camera to take a picture, I want it to take it now.

Users of modern days electronic garget got to read the User's Guide and familiarize themselves with the equipment before using it.
Digital cameras are no exception, not just for P&S and even for DSLR.
For example if one shoot AF-C on a D600 or D800 and if they set the Custom Function a3-Focus Tracking with Lock-On for 1-5 Seconds, the tracking will lock out in 1-5 seconds, so don't complain or blame the camera's AF faulty.
Another example is if one shoot DX mode on a D800 with Custom Function a5- AF Point Illumination On, the outer frame will be grey out instead of just the frame lines, again don't blame the display faulty.

I do place labels on the camera prism and base or lens with EB-1, EB-2, etc. if I have multiple copies of the item. But you know I think of a mount as being on an interchangeable lens.

+1
I do that on my cameras too, D300 with grip as D3, D700 as D7 and D800 as D8.
I enjoy the funny look on people's faces when they want to find out what cameras I am using.
Recently, 2 tourist were arguing between themselves about the camera I am using, the one standing behind asked the one standing in front looking at my camera what model it is? He replied D8, then the one behind said no it must be D800. The one in front again said nope! It is D8. The guy behind said there is no D8 except D80 or D800.
Sometimes I even go one step further using Canon strap on Nikon camera.

Seems like there wouldn't be a D400 in 2013 after all, since there will also be no Canon 7D MkII.
Like I said there is a higher chance of getting more entry level cameras, both FX and DX. An FX that is even lower end than the D600. Since the D600 already has very good features in it, it will be promoted to one level above entry level after the announcement of the new camera.

We get it, you don't think there will be a D400. If you are actually in the know, you're likely violating confidentiality agreements.

That article doesn't say there won't be a 7D MkII, it says it will be later. If what has been out there about the D400 development/specification being reset twice (once due to the disasters in Japan/Thailand and later when they realized their target needed to be set further ahead) is true, there is no reason to think Canon hasn't heard that at some level and decided to do the same thing - essentially skip a generation to get back on the technology track.

I'm also still puzzled why you think a consumer FX replaces in any way what people want in a D400... (it isn't a price-point discussion. Lots of the core shooters of the platform can afford a D800 (myself included) - they don't want one.
