So, had to share that this week I achieved my first cover of Sports Illustrated with a type of photo I did not really expect to be my first as a 'sports photographer'...but one I shoot often (and more people should). As you can see below it's a fairly simple image that fits the mood of the story. Too often sports shooters are focused on-field and miss many other moments that happen often.
It was also a shot taken several hours before the actual game during an afternoon workout - sometimes it pays to get to a place early and look around... In fact, this was taken on a pretty tight angle through a chain-link fence from the area accessible to the public - so the whole 'Must. Have. Credential' doesn't always hold true too (but, yes, it helps).
Anyway, just wanted to share a little encouragement to keep looking off the field to tell a story while on that quest for peak action. (And, yes, to share a bit of my excitement...)
