I like the 2nd shot a lot... I like the balance - - it breaks the "don't line everything up and center it" rule... but I like it.
I was thinking of surround sound
First car "stereo" was an auxiliary FM multiplex tuner receiver that broadcast one channel over an unused FM freq so channel A went through the in-dash radio and channel B through the aux unit to probably the rear speaker(s). Balance was tricky. Then, for hi-end listening, you could couple in a reverb unit (mechanical (spring delay)) that seldom worked properly.
Net result: three separate gadgets, yards of wires, all individually controlled, in car to listen to music, if you could hear it over the rumbles from the Hooker Headers and straight flow Thrush glasspack mufflers. Sweet!
