Hi,

Does anyone know the current wait time on the Leica M-E (not M 240)? Is it the same as the M or are they being produced regularly?

Thanks

The wait should be much shorter. I have seen them in stock in Torrance, CA and Orlando, FL within the past month.

They are in stock at most local shops. A few large online stores have them backordered though. Even if Leica didn't say it literally, I believe the M-E to be sort of limited edition model, and won't be in production for long.

+1

The purpose of the M-E is to use up surplus M9-specific parts.

I would if I were you Mescalamba. It's the last 24x36 camera with a CCD.

The distinction of "last 24x36 camera with a CCD" rests securely with the M Monochrom.

Does the Monochrom shoot in color?

Using the three-color method

It can, just nobody tried it so far. You just need to be bit creative and it will work only on stationary subjects. Plus it will need bit of "know how".

Thing is I want Leica since they made M9. But I also need to get some "pro" camera for work to actually make some money. And Im not exactly sure M9 or M-E allows me to do that.

Both of my current cams (KM-7D + S5 Pro) are more "fun" than "work". And M9 or M-E wouldnt be much different I think.

Edit: I see in a mean time that Im not so original with three-color method. But, I still didnt saw samples.

Adorama's selling a D copy (my guess would be open-box return) for a hundred less than new... http://www.adorama.com/US%20%20%20%20581933.html

You can get a used M9 and save a grand or more.

Thank you for your suggestion, but Czech Republic unfortunately isnt part of USA.

Which as side effect means that if I bought it there, I would need to pay at least 21% of that price to my dear state (thats if I was lucky). Obviously means if I get M9 or M-E its going to be within EU (no added tax within EU).

If you want a work camera I'd get a Nikon D700. Solid.

I know, Im eyeballing this one for some time now.

Leica stuff has problem with being pretty hard to justify if you are not "ultra rich" as some guys here (or most).

Not so much for the Zeiss ZM and even less for the Cosina Voigtlander M/LTMs. Vintage Canon and Nikkor lenses are workable too and the cost is really reasonable.
