At rail stations, a shrine, and a classroom.
In Tokyo.
Correction- classroom scene was in a school in the city of Fukuoka, Kyushu Island (southernmost of the three main islands).

Love the second and fourth images. In the last one it's hard to believe they are still looking at the teacher when you were lying on the floor taking that shot!

The students in the last shot are sure paying a lot more attention to the teacher, than I remember doing

I wonder where these people are today, and what they are doing.

Thanks SRudy, Eric, Ray and MrChile.
I wasn't lying on the floor- just crouched down for a quick shot .
I was with a university professor and he was showing me some typical schools in his city. After a quick introduction the teacher and the students went back to work, ignoring us.
Japanese students at the time took school VERY seriously:
Do well and you'll get a good job for life.
Do poorly and you'll get a crappy job FOR LIFE.
Pretty good motivation.
(Note: there was almost NO job-switching in Japan.)
Charlie
