Hi everyone, I have a 1D Mk IV and 70-200 2.8 IS version II that both went into a fresh water river for about 5 mins. They were completely submerged and do not work. I sent them to Canon and they said they were not repairable. But a few people have told me they may have value for some people looking for parts or whatnot. I have the boxes, etc.

So I was thinking an auction here on FM but notice that auctions are not available (seems like they used to be but may be mistaken). And for something like this, I have no idea at all how to value them. An auction would let the market set a price. Maybe they are worth zero, $10, $100, more…no clue.

E-bay seems like the most likely place but thought I would ask you all first for any tips. Thanks and best, Shane

Auction is not allow. Your best bet is to put it on eBay.

For sure. Sell them on eBay. As is, no returns. Make sure to provide complete descriptions. With an emphasis on what happened - full disclosure.

Hi Jim, yes…always fully disclose with photos, agree. And yes, what a bummer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

However, it is over and the pain is fading, albeit slowly.
