I own the new version of the Sigma 120-300 and have used it with both the Canon 1.4x II and the 2.0x III and enjoyed the results. The sharpness out of the lens straight out of camera is quite good. It is not as fast focusing as the 300 2.8 IS II Canon but at 1/2 the price, I am ok with it. The build quality is improved and feels very solid.
Thanks Scott. Would you also be inclined to also prorate image quality along the lines of the Sigma-Canon price differential, or mainly just the focus speed.
Any comments on the IS system: Good, bad, or pretty good for the price?
I ask out of sincere interest, meaning I just can't absorb the Canon 200-400 price and I'm looking at this Sigma lens, perhaps to mate with the Canon 1.4II. I just spent two weeks with a rental copy of the 100-400 and I'm adjusting with difficulty to the aperture range on that lens.
