When the Bauru of Land Management puts the phrase “Outstanding Natural Area” in a name you have got to expect something special and as all the reviews said it is we were excited to visit Yaquina Head. Our first surprise was the day we planned to go there we woke to dense fog. That made for a very pretty lavender view of nothing out our hotel window. As morning became afternoon the fog started to lift and we headed out. We drove out on the peninsula heading to the light house parking lot. The view there is mostly ocean and the light house which was partly hidden by fog. We stepped out of the car and oh wow 75 MPH wind! We headed to the stairs down to the side that would be sheltered and photo two shows the view. The remaining photos are other views from the top taken later in our visit. The dots on the hills are birds, 50,000 nesting birds!

This post will serve as establishment shots for future posts.

Comments and suggestions welcome,

Morris

Nice ones. Spent a week at the Outdoor Resorts RV Park there once, great views of the lighthouse.

Nice work. You two must be hardly types to walk through 75mph wind!

Thank you Bert,

We spent as much time as possible behind rocks and on the sheltered side of the peninsula

Like your #1.
It seems always very windy around Newport, or at least at Yaquina Head. The "outstanding area" itself is not too outstanding, IMO, but lighthouse is very pretty, especially at sunset.
Did you see any sea animals, except birds?
Sasha.
