When the Bauru of Land Management puts the phrase “Outstanding Natural Area” in a name you have got to expect something special and as all the reviews said it is we were excited to visit Yaquina Head. Our first surprise was the day we planned to go there we woke to dense fog. That made for a very pretty lavender view of nothing out our hotel window. As morning became afternoon the fog started to lift and we headed out. We drove out on the peninsula heading to the light house parking lot. The view there is mostly ocean and the light house which was partly hidden by fog. We stepped out of the car and oh wow 75 MPH wind! We headed to the stairs down to the side that would be sheltered and photo two shows the view. The remaining photos are other views from the top taken later in our visit. The dots on the hills are birds, 50,000 nesting birds!
