Normally I wouldn't go out with the threat of rain but after coming up empty most of the nice weekend we had I was desperate.
Another photographer and I were in no mans land (the furthest point from where we parked) when we saw the rain moving in so we decided to take shelter in a near-by building. As we approached the building I saw my favorite subject as of late sitting nicely on a fallen tree in an open field.
1. Riding out the storm.
2. Spin cycle
3. Fluff cycle
4. More spinning
5. The sun eventually came back out and the hawk started preening
6. I don't know why I took this shot but I did. I titled it "Tools of the trade"
3. The hawk was eating Cicadas emerging from the ground while we were there but it had several opportunities to catch a Squirrel but it only watched them walk around in front of it. I thought for sure I was going to be able to photograph another kill series but the hawk never left the branch.
