I have a Leica X1. It would be nice with a tele lens as well, I miss that. A M10 + Summarit 35 + 75 would be everything I need, but currently not feasible from an economical point of view.

I've swapped quite a few lenses/camera systems over the years but where I am at currently:
____________________________________________________________
*Panasnoic Lumix Rugged DMC-FT2 P&S (WWIII-proof camera)

____________________________________________________________
*Canon 5DMKII (landscape / low light cam) w/ Camdapter Pro-Strap in Black
-Zeiss ZE 50 1.4
-Zeiss ZE 18 3.5
-580EX II w/ Gary Phong Lightsphere, snap-on mini diffuser, and Orbis Ring Flash

____________________________________________________________
*Sony A77 (action camera) w/ Camdapter Pro-Strap in Black
-Sony 70-200 2.8 G
-Minolta 50 1.7
-Samyang 8mm 3.5

____________________________________________________________
*NEX-6 (everyday camera) w/ HoldFastGear Leather Wrist Strap in Burgundy Buffalo
-Zeiss Touit 32 1.8

____________________________________________________________
*Accessories/Gear
-Holdfast MoneyMaker + MANY accessories.. love this company
-Crumpler 5 Million Dollar home (I own the old and new version, I prefer the new version)
-Tenba Large Messenger Bag (For when I need to transport my 15" laptop + cameras)

I've tried to simplify my system into a fisheye, super wide angle, a few 50mm/equivalents, and my action tele zoom. With the NEX I can use any of these lenses on it and it expands my capabilities.

What's next? Here's a list of a few possibilities:
____________________________________________________________
*Lenses/Cameras
-Keeping my eyes on Sony's FF developements
-Helios 40-2 85 1.5
-Canon 55 1.2 or some such other classic lens to play around with
-Zeiss 135 1.8 and/or 135L
-1.4x Sony Teleconverter
-Sigma or Canon 35mm 1.4
-Zeiss Touit 12
-Zeiss 24mm 1.8
-Zeiss 24/2

____________________________________________________________
*Flashes/Accessroies/Bags/Etc
-Gariz Brown Leather NEX-6 Case
-Billingham Hadley Pro (Looking for a smaller more stylish bag for my NEX and this may be the winner)
-Sony HVL-58AM Flash
-AlienBee 3-flash setup
-Some form of hiking backpack with focus on camera carryy
-Suunto Core for explorative purposes

I think one of the hard parts is acknowledging what is actually a NEED vs a WANT. I know I struggle with this distinction often. I had done really well and REALLY minimized my stuff, but this year I just don't know what happened, I wound up with so many things that weren't really necessary.

I do want to downsize again, and part of me wants to leave behind my DSLRs all-together and just rent gear when it's needed (keeping only my X-Pro 1 kit), but I find that this is something of a difficult proposition. Especially as I find myself wanting to get more into video work and looking seriously at the Panasonic GH-3 to augment my existing EOS system.

How do you let go?

I hung onto a Minolta 28-70/2.8 G when I sold my KM 7D to a relative. I don't see it being suitable for "everyday" use on an NEX or a small FF NEX sort of thing. Not bad for an ff large dslr/dslt type camera or even a large "mirrorless" aimed at use with the larger lenses. OTOH, the idea of the 100-300 APO D on an NEX via adapter is interesting due it's weight and size. My Nikon mount gear is also more on the larger side compared to native aps-c NEX lenses. As it is, my next incentive is a Europe trip and that's something I'd prefer to do with smaller lighter gear.

I like, for the most part, my daughters RX100 but would prefer something a tad larger with a viewfinder so the second generation RX100 with finder is less likely a choice than an NEX. There times when I'd want something longer than 300mm and small cameras aren't the only kit size driver when the lenses get big.

'I think one of the hard parts is acknowledging what is actually a NEED vs a WANT.'

1. Have you used the item in the last 6-12 months?
2. Do you have a clear and present NEED for an item, or an anticipated need in the next 12 months?

If 'no' to both, sell.
Reverse the process for buying.

Exceptions might be sentimental items, or hard to find items that you use intermittently.

We are in a state of market flux until end 2014, so it's understandable people are trying things and considering options. After that, perhaps some peaceful times. The focus might even get back somewhat to actual photography which requires much more effort than arranging transactions.

On what calendar? We're always in a state of market flux, until and unless we can figure out how to develop a sustainable economy. I'm just sayin'.

OM-D (x3)
Oly 17mm 1.8
Oly 45mm 1.8
Oly 75mm 1.8
Oly 14-150mm 4-5.6
Pany 12-35mm 2.8
Pany 35-100mm 2.8
Pany 100-300mm 5.6
Couple of Metz 58AFs, an Oly FL-50.

Also have a battered 5D, an XZ-1 w/VF-2, a Canon G6, a Sony TX5 and a TX20.

I sold all of my other Canon gear and replaced it with M4/3. So far, pretty happy with the move.

Up next? No idea. Maybe pick up an X100 sometime just to see what the fuss is about. And if the next OM-D improves on this one, I may replace them. But there's no hurry.

That's the thing, I easily answer yes to both of those questions since I did a big purge a year ago. I still feel like I have too much, but the only thing I'm keeping for sentimental reasons is my hasselblad kit because its the actual camera that was used to photograph my parents' wedding over 30 years ago.

Think about how there was most likely a time in your life when you were happy even though you didn't have any of the cameras you currently do. Realize that this means you can easily be happy again with as few cameras as you decide to have, with a bit of practice.

I've never been happier, and this is the most gear I've ever owned at one time. YMMV!

I have less gears now, than at many times in the past. Still, I'm happy.

My happiness doesn't correlate with the amount of gears that I have. Although, I do have a shed load of gears, and that makes me happy. In fact, I'd happily shed all of my gears, if it was important to do so.

I've been trimming my tool selection to a minimum. The goal is no more than 3 lenses and I'm almost there. My plan is to use my camera as long as it meets my needs.

Here's a different answer... none. I have no cameras or lenses at the moment. I haven't in several years, since I sold off a 5D and set of Contax lenses.

So, at the moment, I'm researching and trying to figure out what the best system to invest in would be.

Pretty much using my X-E1 and RX1 for everything these days and enjoying them both a lot. I haven't been able to convince myself to pull the trigger on selling my DSLR yet, but it's tempting.

Currently have a D800 + a lot of FX glass (AF/MF Nikkors and Voigtlanders) and am trying to weed them down a lot to a set of good primes (old and new) along with a set of zooms. It will be my "weight and size is no issue and best IQ is desired" kit.

Also working on expanding my m43 kit (currently only GH-2 and 12-35/2.8) to make it my "weight and size is a big issue and pretty good IQ is acceptable" kit. Need to add something wide (fisheye and rectilinear) and something long (the 75/1.8 would be good start).

Might as well join in,

5DII
ZE 50P
EOS 85/1.8, 24-105, 200/2.8, 300/4 and 400/5.6

Xpro-1
XE-1
Fuji 14, 18-55, 35 and 55-200 lenses
Legacy lenses:
Nikkor 55 f/3.5macro with tube
Nikkor 105 f/4 Macro with tube
Canon FD 200mm f/4 macro
FD 50/1.4
FD 28/ 2.8

a few Nikon sb 26 flashes, canon 580EXII and a 24EX-MT

I plan on updating the 5DII to a Mk III later this year for sporting action where focus tracking is desirable. I had a 7D for that but that camera & me did not get along.

My day to day gear has become the Fuji X system. It suites me well most of my subjects and looks like it will be a good system for many years.
