Using a canon 5D mark ii
Profoto 7b light with 7b generator and canon ex 580 ii
Pocket wizard plus II transceiver on 5d mark ii and 2 recievers 1 on generator and 1 on the ex 580 via pc sync.

When I press test on the transceiver the flashes go off fine but it will not fire from my camera.

Need to fix this problem soon cause of an upcoming shoot.

Please help

Could be the tranceiver has bad contacts, or is not seated properly in the 5D2 hot shoe. I presume the camera PC port is unused.

If you're using Live View, make sure that [Silent Mode] is disabled. If it's in Mode 1 or Mode 2 the flash sync is disabled.

Also, and I hope this isn't too obvious, make sure [External Flash] is enabled in the camera's Flash Control Menu.

Finally, as mentioned, make sure the contacts are clean and the transmitter is fully seated in the hot shoe.

Good luck.

Set your camera to manual and keep your shutter speed below 1/180.

How will that effect a non-firing flash?

Shutter speed could be above sync. Some cameras don't fire the flash at all if the shutter speed is set higher than sync speed. Some wireless triggers are also limited by sync speed.

For example my Leica M9 has a max sync speed of 1/180. If the camera is firing at a shutter speed faster than 1/180 is doesn't trigger the flash at all.

The 5D-series cameras will sync up to 1/200, and although that may not work with some strobes that require slower sync speeds due to slow ramp-up, the sync signal will still be sent since the camera doesn't know what kind of flash/strobe is being used (other than with ETTL mode on Speedlites).

Also, the sync signal of the 5D is independent of mode, so M, Av, or Tv isn't an issue.

I thought that might be it. Glad everything is working now.
