After a lot of searching for a small/ultra compact tripod, I ordered the Gitzo GT-531 today.
It was kind of confusing because there is a GT-0351 (larger tripod) and the GT-531 (the small one.)

I am going to China so i will be using it for my trip.

However, I am unable to find any real reviews or feedback about this tripod on the internet.

Has anyone used this tripod by chance? If so, I would love some feedback

I will be mainly using it for smaller cameras, like RX1, leica etc.

Thx in advance

ll

Are you sure you got the names right? The only one that I know is the GT0531. Is it a Gitzo Mountaineer tripod or?

There is a Gitzo GT-531 - it's a Mountaineer tabletop version, Series 00 - http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/548360-REG/Gitzo_GT_531_GT_531_Mountaineer_6X_Carbon.html

Ok, maybe it's an older tripod ? Gitzo don't have it on their website. Or maybe those tripods have a different name in the USA

No, it's there (and looks to be a current model). http://www.gitzo.us/series-00-carbon-6x-tripod-3-section-g-lock I had to google it though; I looked under Mountaineer Series and didn't see it. Plus it doesn't look like a typical tabletop tripod.

Yes I know. But it's only on the US website. Not on the original Gitzo.com

Update

I received the tripod today.. It is seriously pretty tiny, the pictures of it don't really show how small it is - exactly what I needed for the RX1. Seems very solid. I just need to purchase a small ballhead at this point. The one I have right now is too hefty for the tripod.

Other than the price, this seems perfect for my needs. Here's a picture (sorry for the blur!)

That looks seriously sweet. I love that it's so small, yet only has 3 sections. Most compact/travel tripods have 4 or 5 sections. Looks perfect for something like the Really Right Stuff BH-30 ballhead.

But other normal travel tripods are at least twice the length of this very short tripod. This is a tripod you have to sit down on the ground to use. Or put it on a table. It's maximum length is 56 cm with center column down. And 67 cm with the center column fully extended. It's a table tripod that you can't compare with the normal travel tripods. Fully extended it's the same height as my knee
