Last March I had just purchased the D800 and 24-120 when my brother came in town to race at Road Atlanta in the PCA (Prosche Club of America) races.
I went out to watch the race and took the d800 a 24-120 f4 and the 300 f4 to try and document his 1st race in the Porche twin turbo as well as our 1st time out at Road Atlanta. I say try as the last time I shot motorsports was back in the mid 70's with a 50 and 28 mm for motorcross.
A number of days later while looking at the PCA website noticed that a magazine was looking for images from the race. Contacted the magazine "Grassroots Motorsports" and submitted about 5 images from the race. Well I'm happy to say that one of the images was published on the website "the RaceSite" and two of the images were published in the magazine's August issue with my byline. In addition I did receive a check as payment for the image usage. Won't cover the cost of a lens but it's a start and happy to be published in a National Publication.
