I decided to install ViewNX2 after playing with my new D800
for the last two weeks, I figure I check it out thinking that I
don't really need it as I use Lightroom. Anyway, I find that
it displayed focus point used and the indication of Auto ISO
used which I find useful in doing postmortem of what I (or the
camera) did to achieve the shot. Is there any way to display this
info in Lightroom? Also, I have been importing RAW images
by converting them to DNG, does this mean that the focus
point and Auto ISO info are lost forever?

I plan to import NEF from now on..
Thanks.

LR5 :

EXIF shows the ISO value used (Library - bottom on the right & in Develop Top Left)
Focus Point : No.. Aperture does and I believe View NX, which probably came with your camera, does too.

Sometimes NonNikon programs don't show the Hi and Lo isoos, but on the otherhand they do show the iso in a real value such 12.800. I never figured out what was the reason and now I live with it(started with a D200).

I had to go test this and see what you were talking about. Now I see.
In the little pop up box.

200mm - Auto (ISO 100)
versus
70mm - ISO 100

Not sure why you import as a DNG file though. When I finally get around to importing photos into Lightroom, I just import. I don't make that file type change.

Another advantage of using View NX for initial culling is --it's FASTER. D800 files pop up instantly, no waiting for loading like in Lightroom. Of course Lightroom is still the champ for processing those pics, but View NX lets you cull through them much quicker. Another thing, View NX will tell you what your flash power was if you shot in manual flash.
