Just a few from the spillway. Wish I had seen the night heron before he got past me .

As always your comments and suggestions are much appreciated.

Thank you for looking in and I hope you enjoy,

Some good shots, Birdie.
The first one of the stilt is my favorite- I really like the 3/4 view and the pose.
Assuming you were using your longest-reaching lens, the birds must have been a fair distance from you.
Have you tried a crop to bring them a bit closer?
And/or maybe reduce the amount of sky to create the illusion of being closer?

Nice job on these, Birdie. Too bad you couldn't get closer, but you did okay considering the conditions.
Your Green Heron looks more like a juvenile Black crowned Nigh-Heron to me. But I could be wrong

Nicely done Birdie. Great bg in 1, but I would consider cropping the bridge out. The BNS shots are my picks ~ Ron

Nice set, I like the fact that the format (3/4) is not the normal standard that we see around here, these are different, and looks really good considering the distance.

1,3,4
Tranquil scenes, soft blurry backgrounds complete the captures nicely.

Thanks Charlie. I was playing around with the 5:4 image size option on the D800. The birds were a bit away . I did crop these about 33%. Something got lost trying to crop closer. So, I went with the environmental view

Somethings things just don't go your way The birds in the spillway are so very shy, hard to get close to them now especially since they are keeping all the grass and weeds cut short. I keep telling the rangers they are messing with my stalking and hiding, but they don't pay any attention to me
I think you are so right on the ID. Thank you

Not only can it fly, but it does the hokey pokey, you should see that Thank you Ken !
