I shoot high school sports, kneeling, wth a 400/2.8 on a 'pod. This school year I'd like to start shooting from a prone position (it's all about making 'em look larger than life). As such, I need a really short tripod.

That said, I'd like the legs to be long enough so I can shoot kneeling from time to time.

Does such a thing exist?

If you have the right tripod, it will go both tall and short. For something like the 400 f/2.8 something like a GT3551 or a GT5xxx series with no center column should get you full height support but still provide something <6" tall when needed.

I was aware of the RRS table top; however, I'm not sure the price can be justified for what I need.

Sirui N-2004.....they're basically the same as Benro Travel Angels, (same design)...i've heard great things about em....they go LOW...min height, 6.7"...and it doubles as a monopod...granted, it might be closer to 9" minimum, once you have a ball head on.....

I've been wanting to get one for a long time, but for as little as i use a tripod, i just can't justify it......
