I will take a bit of a break from the Hawaii photos, and post some exotic and common locals instead - a few bugs from a nearby national park.
1. This damsel is no lady. Her meal is littered all over the place.
2. A pollen eating beetle (Orsodacnid Leaf Beetle) chowing down on Alberta`s provincial flower - the wild rose.
3. Fly amour. Nuf said. Could not find an ID for this one.
4. Robber Fly (Laphria sp.). One of the many bee mimics in the fly family.
5. Fly mimicking a wasp. I really enjoy seeing the different fly species that cause people to jump away in fear because it looks dangerous. Guess their disguise must pay off. Another one I could not easily ID.
I hope you enjoyed this little collection, and that it did no bug you. Will get back to some hot Hawaiian shots for the next post.
Comments are most welcome.
