Seeing this pic of the relatively large lens makes me wonder why one wouldn't just use the 70-200/2.8 and LA-EA4, since you'll have the better PDAF option.

The A Mount 70-200 doesn't have stabilization.

Good point. So it's a decision between faster lens speed and better AF vs. OSS and a bit smaller size. Kind of a tough call.

That's a definite setup where I would prefer a much larger body! That's seriously ridiculous.

Nope. How long did it take before it broke the front mount off the camera?

honestly, it's no different from holding the lens by itself. giant telephotos put less strain on the mount when i use them than my fast normals do because i never hold the camera by the camera with a big telephoto.

Tamron has a non-stabilized 70-200/2.8 for A mount, as well. Seems like the reviews for it were pretty good IIRC.

I am thinking about 70-400G2. I had been considering the Nikon 80-400, but I could use 300/4 + D600, and 70-400 + A7 and have a pretty sweet setup for wildlife/bird blind shooting. I always shoot from gimbal head or beanbag, so no worries about strain on the mount.

My Novoflex Leica R to NEX adapter arrived today. I am now all set to go to PhotoPlus on Thursday, October 24 with both some Leica R lenses and also with my Phigment Leica M to NEX adapter as well as my Hawk's Factory Leica M to NEX Helicoid with my Minolta CLE MC 40mm f2 Rokkor-M lens.

I can't wait to see some of the results on the 36MP A7r camera with some of my lenses like my Leica 100mm f2.8 Apo Macro Elmarit and my 280mm f4 Apo Telyt lenses. These lenses should make for some spectacular images.

After listening to the videos of the shutter sound I'm starting to be concerned about the actual shutter vibration when it's released, any thoughts .Sony might have gotten rid of the mirror only to introduce just as much vibration from the focal plane shutter. It is disappointing that they chose this route. Hopefully it will be nothing to worry about. It will be quite interesting to see if the Nikon 14 - 24 lens will be functional with the new 36 megapixel sensor. Can't wait to actually try this camera out the beginning of the year and see if it focuses accurately, unlike my NEX-7.

I doubt the shutter will cause any more vibration than typical FF DSLRs. It's likely louder because there isn't as much body to insulate the sound.
