So... I ordered and almost took delivery of the RX1. Still kinda wished I did take delivery but I got cold feet.
Instead I've been shooting my GXR and manual glass rather sporadically, and much more often than not my hands are full of a D800 usually with the Sigma 35/1.4 and sometimes with a Nikkor 85/1.8.
I really like the Siggy, but bet I'd have liked the RX1 more, for a bunch of reasons. Form factor is one. Is it wrong of me to want something akin to D800 performance in a much smaller package?
The D800 hasn't been a bad camera for me but I don't carry it everywhere unlike my experience with the NE-5N or GXR. That said I've taken it up into the mountains in an expedition pack... but not on a winter jaunt. Volume, not weight, might prevent that.
I can't help but lust after the *idea* of the A7r but still don't know about the implementation. And will I be happy with the 35/2.8? Instinctively I suspect I'd be delighted most of the time but Lightroom tells me I've shot the Siggy at f/1.4 and f/2 quite a bit. It's surprisingly good wide open.
My strategy of staying away from FM to keep more money in my pocket, more finger time on the shutter seems to have been spoiled by this new introduction.
