p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · thinking of getting a Tamron 17-50. VC?

A long time ago I had a Tamron 17-50.

I didn't realize how sharp this lens was at the time, especially for the money.

Now I want to give one another shot, but I have heard that the new VC version is not as sharp.

I have a local guy selling a VC version used for $340.

Should I try to find an older non VC version?

My father has the VC one, and I don't like it. It can be lovely at times, but the severe field curvature at the wide end make it impossible to keep everything at infinity in focus even at around f8-11. Field curvature seems much better at longer FL. When things are in focus, it's sharp. VC works very well. It's actually good for general use but not for landscape.
