Well not really, but last night I almost though I should have brought something like that. The fireworks were so bright that all the rules went out the window. I started out shooting at f/8 for three to five seconds which is the way I almost always shoot fireworks - but everything was way too over exposed. I dropped it to f/10 and then f/11 and quickly went to f/13. I dropped my time to under three seconds too, while they were still to bright I was able to recover decent quality. The grand finally was so bright that while I did not have time to change the settings I just pressed and released the cable release as fast as I could. Never saw fireworks where a non-time exposure might have actually worked well. In any case, here are the first few I processed:
