Just got the 22mm lens. What a sharp little lens she is! Very impressive, indeed!

Price on Amazon is now $451 with the 22mm. B&H has it for $399. Both show it as in stock. Feel a bad case of GAS coming on.

Just got mine in last week. I like it a lot. It has it's quirks but overall i'm satisfied. It looks a bit silly when the GP-E2 is mounted on top while using the 22mm. The GPS is larger than the lens! It does provide a much better grip while using the GPS though.
They really need to add a sleep button or something. Instant and on and off would be nice, not a timer when the screen goes off.

Would anyone be interested in getting the 11-22mm? I live in Germany and I could send a few copies over if someone really wants one.

I ordered mine on July 9th and thought I would miss out, as it was taking forever. My order just arrived this morning, and as a special bonus, they sent me the kit that included the flash. Cha ching. Every once in awhile, you get a great deal.

I've heard this from a few sources; Canon must have used up the US kits and is now going through the regional kits with the flash included. Great deal.

Amazon has the M with zoom kit for $349 still in stock for anyone interested. Don't see any specials still going for the 22mm kit.

I know this is an old thread so if there is a better one to revive please let me know...

I am considering an EOS-M - what started as an innocent email from Amazon this morning has turned into a quest, I think a few of you can relate

I am looking for a vacation camera so I can leave the 5D3 and larger glass at home. I also have a S90...

My question relates to the M vs M2. I see some decent package deals on eBay such as:

EOS-M Kit (539 U$D)
18-55
22mm
Canon EF-M Adapter
90EX flash

.The same kit with an M2 is $415 more. Is the $415 uplift worth it?

I was having a serious look at the Fuji X-Series but don't think I am ready to jump to another brand as I have a ton of lighting and other Canon related accessories that will work great with the M-Line.

Thanks in advance

No. M2 is not worth it unless you are desperate for wifi for some reason.

I'd say that it's absolutely worth it if you need snappy focusing performance for moving compositions from the M- WiFi, as implemented by Canon, isn't terribly useful just yet.

@CG5 - thanks for your comment.

The early reports of slow AF on the M has largely subsided with the release of later firmware from what I understand.

Are any of you going on vacation and leaving the DSLR at home in lieu of the EOS-M?

Sorry, are you saying that the M2 is way faster than the M for AF performance?

Really nice work Dennis.

I just got back from a vacation on which I only took the M.

Great image set - thanks for sharing. Have you used the 18-55M - I see the gallery is titled 22mm.

^^

Thanks guys. I posted these last year.

We go there every summer and I have taken so many pictures lugging around heavy gear.

I just wanted to take one camera and one lens and see what I could come up with.

I just have the 22mm lens

Nice set Dave!

Does anyone have any experience with buying Japanese versions of Canon cameras? One of the listings I am considering is from Japan and aside from the manuals being Japanese would the writing on the product also be?

Here is the link in case you are curious:

Absolutely. It'll be the difference in Live View focusing between a T4i/T5i and the SL1. Also, the M2 is supposed to have better shot-to-shot performance, which can be an even bigger deal- that's where the M really lags when trying to 'capture the moment'.

Thanks John. I am unfamiliar with the T4i/T5i/SL1 Live View AF but I get your drift.

My S90 is slow shot to shot but it is fine for the situations tend to use it in. I would imagine the EOS-M would be at least that fast in between shots, no?

It's 'fast enough'. I typically only do single shots, and if the subject is cooperative it's a competent camera- it'll even adjust for subject movement while shooting, since it picks a point (or takes one you select with the touch screen) and tracks it to shutter release. Just be prepared to give it a second or two (literally) before your next composition.
