Any suggestions on carrying a camera kit (5DIII, 24-70, and 70-200) when bicycling. My wife and I bought a couple of Hybrid bikes and have the standard bike racks on the back.
I guess we could bungee cord a camera bag to the rack but was hoping someone had other ideas.

Thanks

Have you cosidered a backpack? I think your body will absorb the shocks better than a bike rack.

Another option could be a small messenger-type bag such as the Think Tank Urban Disguise 35. Can easily fit the gear you have listed. For just a body and couple of lenses, I like this option because you can swing it around to your back and have it out of the way while biking, and then quickly bring it to your side to get to your gear when needed.

Yeah...you really don't want gear bouncing on a rack, Rod.

Hi Rod,

FWIW, I use one of these...

Topeak® Cycling Accessories — Products - MTX TrunkBag DXP:

...though I don't think it'll offer you any advantages to your existing racks. I, personally, wouldn't trust this or any other rack with anything more than a pocket camera. I'll concur with trenchmonkey, I can't see anything good coming out of having the internals of your DSLR gear constantly getting rattled around. That I were so inclined to take a DSLR along on a bike ride I'd probably just load up my Glass Taxi and wrap things inside a towel just for the extra protection!

Hope that helps!

First the disclaimer - I cycle a lot and probably go faster than most casual riders so I may not be the right person to ask. I've tumbled off of my bikes, both on the trail (which is flat and smooth here in Illinois) and on the road so many times that I've lost track. A pedestrian, a runner, another bike, a car or truck can always cut you off regardless of how slowly and carefully you are riding. I would never carry anything more expensive than a P&S on my bike. YMMV

I use a Tamra 5275 Expedition 5 when I go biking and hink I need most of my kit. Which is usually, not always, bigger than needed.
