Does anyone have any tips for removing flares from images? I have a shot I really like, but there are some flares that are proving difficult to remove. any ideas?

Lots of different types of flares. Some easy. Some not so easy to fix. Why don't you post an example.

It may sound a bit trite but prevention is far easier than cure. Use a suitable lens hood always.

Lens flare often involves differences in colour as well as tone and it is very difficult to separate them from the scene. However, if it is a simple veiling flare then increasing microcontrast (or "clarity") may be sufficient. As Peter suggested, you'll get better help if you post an example.
