Hey y'all, I figure I'd start a thread for those of us who shoot instant film, be it polaroid, fuji, instax etc. Share photos, discuss camera/film options, useless debates, you know

I'll start with a few.

Speed Graphic, Scheider 12.5 cm f/2, Fuji FP3000b negatives (I gave the prints to the client).

Fuji does. FP-100C is 100 ISO color and FP-3000B is 3200 ISO B&W.

They also fit the Polaroid Land Cameras.

IIRC, Polaroid stopped making film in the 1980's. I gave away my camera then, figuring there was no future for it.

Yup! Fuji makes the peel apart stuff, though recently discontinued the 4x5 ones.

Impossible project has been trying (with various success) to recreate some of the other Polaroid emulsions (though they cost a fortune). And I think there is one more small company working on bringing back some of the larger sizes.

It seems that when Polaroid went belly up, instead of selling their machinery to other photography companies, they (I.e. the bank or whoever was in charge) just sold all the machinery for parts. S years of amazing research and technology just disappeared. Completely ridiculous.

I've been shooting with this stuff A LOT, so I'll be posting whatever I got, I just hope some other people join in.

Thanks guys my camera is quite difficult to focus close up, but I'm okay with of images sometimes (though I'd rather have nailed it).

Has anybody bleached their negatives in order to scan them (rather than scanning the developed print)? It looks like you get more detail that way, despite being messy and time-consuming.

You only have to bleach the color negatives, the black and white ones give a scannable negative. The ones I posted are from the negatives. With the black and white, you don't really get much more detail, but you do get more information in the highlights and shadows. Generally the prints scan better (negatives have much more grain). I haven't bleached any of the color stuff yet, but from what I've seen you get a lot more detail, better color (if you do a good job), and a lot more shadow detail.

Cool thread. I've still got a lot of film in the fridge - some of it is still good. Polaroid had good stock and actually made film up until just a couple years ago. The Fuji film in the later years was preferred by some. Impossible Project is doing amazing things and a great bunch of people to boot - including the recent release of the large format film in a very limited batch. One of the big issues going forward is that some of the machinery for certain films was destroyed (sold for parts) so the ability to recreate those sizes/film types is limited at best, even when the film itself has finally been perfected (it's close now, but "batchy" and temperamental)

I'd love to see some work on the negatives. Let's hope Fuji keeps producing the stuff. Impossible is working on a new modern camera as well based on the Land professional designs.

From tiny bits I saw, there is actually quite a bit of data even in instant films if you scan them with some high quality tech. Guys here in one of our last film labs, have some Imacon scanner and they did some scans of some kind of polaroids (no clue which ones). Well results seemed very good, I wouldnt say it was instant film at all. Tho they are sorta magicians so it might be more about them too.

Great idea for a thread zalmyb! And some great shots so far! Zalmyb, your shots 1b and 2a are great moments, nice work.

Here are a couple humble contributions from a recent family vacation to Disney. Shot with an expired pack of Fuji 100c (some of the shots turned out a little darker because of this I think) with a Polaroid 250. I too usually scan the negatives of the B&W, but typically dispose of the color negatives -- it's just more to carry

ken.vs.ryu, nice (I think ) the bottom right on looks cool.

A rod, that first one looks quite interesting, I'd love to see a clearer version

Jeremy, exposure looks pretty good to me. I do find that the automatic land camera tend to underexpose quite a bit, I usually have mine on +1 or even +2.

I'm going through my archives (all from the past year or so), I'll try to only post the good stuff...

These are with the RZ67, 110mm and FP3000b
