p.1 #1 · Sent my D600 into Nikon repair

I sent my D600 in and have never done it before. It got there yesterday. I'm just wondering how long I will have to wait to be notified of their evaluation. What is typical?

Thanks

Three issues. 1. Very soft, blurry images in low light at long distances. Went through two 70-200mm VRII's before I figured out it was the body, not the lens. 2. When using a 2 or 3 exposure burst the exposures are all different..(not using flash) and 3. Metering is off by a 2-3 stops.

Everything? Very abnormal issues..

Particulary that 1st one is close to unexplainable. I guess you are not talking about long distance low-light pics from tripod?

I know they are abnormal. I've never seen them as complaints here for this body. I use this camera in my business a great deal in long distance/ low light situations. This is why I bought this body and lens. I don't use a tripod and prefer to not use a monopod either. I have to hand hold. I've tested the lens in identical situations with several different bodies and it is reasonably sharp on other bodies. I'm talking about standing in the same place at the same time rotating the lens through several bodies. D600 - blurry. Shutter speeds up to 400. Some times in the situation it back focuses.. even at medium ranges it back focuses. The problem is, that it isn't consistent. I'm very frustrated with it right now.

In good light, it works much better at long distances and is spectacular close up.

Anyone have any answers to my question?

That's their standard answer. Challenge it and go higher up the ladder.

Enjoy your impact damage and expect to cough up money. Look at my thread I created a while ago.

I read that thread. Its not possible to be impact damage, but I know what you are saying.

Can anyone please tell me how long to expect for some answer?

Usually 3-5 days is what I hear (then add shipping time), but yours isn't typical, so hard to say...

Just an update on this. They finished the repair and shipped it today. They said they replaced the "Image PCB Board." or something like that.. otherwise they just adjusted stuff. Any idea what that part is and what it does?

Thanks

Make sure to post an update when you receive the camera back. Hopefully it's solved your problems. It might be nice to see an actual positive Nikon repair experience.
