Well the sad part is. The real test will be how Canon 1D Mark IV shooters works out their transition. You know there are a crapton of sports photographers using that body.

If there is a rebellion in the Canon CPS ranks where they don't adopt full frame within the next year. Something will be up in both camps.

Still using a D300 here. I donŽt need video on my digital still camera.

If Nikon refuses to bring out a D400 I might switch brands. Just something I have been thinking about more and more lately. IŽll sure as hell miss my 80-200 f2,8 though (with 120-300mm equivalent field of view without the weight penalty of the Sigma handcannon).

I don't want a D400.
No.
I want a decent MP-size DX camera (16MP) in a rugged pro body with pro AF and pro VF blackout times (which the D300 does NOT have).

Frankly the chances of me getting what I want is slim, to none. You have a chance at a D400. It's within the realm of possibility.

The only thing I'm certain of is that I sold my D300 way too soon...still regret that. I've thought about buying another but just can't bring myself to admit I was so stupid. It's all Nikon's fault.

I've given up on waiting and bought a D7100 today. It may not be what I want, but it will be what I have...no more waiting.

I think Nikon is financially strapped and can't fund the development and costs of a D400. How else can you explain the impact damage rash for warranty repairs and the fact that they aren't participating in Imaging USA 2014?

Greed and short sightedness and a lack of understanding of how important customer care is. With all the incredible examples of major development work on camera bodies coming out of Nikon, I don't see that the development dollars are tight at all.

Nikon is not the only Japanese company I deal with ... it appears to be a cultural issue.

I have had a D5300 (Nikons latest DSLR) for less than two weeks and I can tell you that inovation has not ceased.

Expeed 4
Great pictures at ISO 12800 with a DX imager
Smooth 1080P 60 Video
New type of lightweight strong solid one piece plastic body
Very High resolution swivel LCD

Even if a D400 never comes out the D7200 should be amazing.

Handheld D5300 JPEG taken yesterday at the Monterey Bay Aquarium had no post processing other

Thanks Andre
I will be going back to the Aquarium Tuesday.
I just set the Auto ISO to the Hi limit of 25600 and took a test shot in my near dark house.
I can't wait to try it there.

Also took a short 1080P 60 Sardine clip when there last time and will try to get that Octapuss in action.

Interesting. At the end of WWII after Hiroshima and Nagasaki were nuked out of existence, Most Japanese wanted to fight on until every person was dead. They did not want surrender. The saw only dishonor in surrender. It took the Emperor to decide to end the war.

Will Nikon be that resolute/stubborn?

They wasted all that money on the goofy Df instead.

Well, now Thom Hogan is claiming the D9000 as the D300 replacement! Oh boy!

No, it does not matter ... but I would not say his credibility in general is hurt by this ... I never hold my breath based on what an internet blogger says ... though I may agree with their sentiment, as I do in this case with regards to what Nikon should do but isn't.
