If Nikon ever makes the D400, what price point are you guys expecting? With the D7100 going for $1150 and the D600 on fire sale at $1600, there doesn't seem to be much wiggle room in terms of a price that would make sense for consumers.
I don't want to be mean or a jerk, but I see this comment rather frequently and I don't understand where it comes from. The d600 and d300 are significantly different cameras, with significantly different feature lists and capability. The features/capability are what determine the price, and suitability to task, of the body. It's tantamount to asking why the d4 is $3000 more than the d800. They are targeted at different users for different purposes.
In direct answer to your question, I would expect a d400 to come in around the same price as the d300 did, ie $1800 US. The price of the d600 has no bearing on that any more than the price of the d5300 has on the V2.
