Well I hope the D400 comes out soon. Would love to have one by October for Eagle season and it would mate up nicely with the 80-400VRII. .

That could be a killer combo for wildlife.

I am adjusting aperture on my D800 every time I shoot Video.
I shoot in manual mode and just rotate the front dial.

The rumors suggest that you will be able to do that and shoot 1080P at 60fps with the D400.

If you reread the post to which you responded, you'll find that's exactly what he's doing as well... but he'd like to avoid that workaround.

I find it much easier to adjust aperture with the front camera wheel than with the lens.
However, I shoot from a TriPod, the lens adjustment might be easier if hand held.

Ah, my apologies... I misread. Yes, of course there's a difference between the lens aperture ring and the front dial.

Have we not already discussed -- at length -- why a D7200 and a D400 are not the same hypothetical camera?

Hope this has not already been posted here.

Snoopin around the web I found this link:

http://thenewcamera.com/category/nikon-rumors/

Within the link I found and copied this piece:

"Nikon D400 Coming with Expeed 4 Processor and New AF System"
By admin, on May 31st, 2013

"According to latest rumors, Nikon engineers have been working on a new generation EXPEED 4 processor and advance AF system for the Nikon D400, the upcoming camera will also feature LARGE BUFFER, newly developed 24 MP DX format CMOS sensor and advance video mode compared to Nikon D7100".

"The current focus is to push as many D7100 sales as possible + Nikon is also waiting for Canon 7D Mk II arrival, as we know the 7D Mk II is rumored to be announced on Q1 of 2014, so we may see Nikon D400 in Q4 of 2013 (probably in September). I am sure that Nikon will announce its D400 camera Just before the announcement of Canon 7D Mk II to dominate the global APS-C DSLR market. "

Hook, line, and sinker.

I'm sorry, my humor meter has been a little off the past few days... I fell for that.

But maybe we should debate it again ... NOT!

I'm with Doug ... if it comes in at $1900 or less, it's a no-brainer for me ... or with an integrated grip (not likely) ... I'd pay a bit more.

The integrated grips have their advantages, but I think so far I've been most pleased with the D300/D700 setup where the vertical grip has an additional multi-selector. That single feature was a godsend, and being able to remove the grip sometimes was rather nice, too.

Ah... the D2X II. That would be something

Problem is, apart from the F5, Nikon hasn't previously launched a camera with integrated grip for less than $5,000 as far as I can remember
Realistically, something similar to the D800 body is what we'll get, if we get anything at all.

RRR, on changing the aperture during Live View \ movie recording. I meant that on a cameras like the D7000 which I own, Nikon does not give you the option to adjust the aperture in manual mode unless you have a D or AIS lens with an aperture ring. I don't own the D800, perhaps on high end cameras Nikon includes that feature for $3K. All the Canons seem to have it by default not just the 5DMIII.

The reason Canon has it is because all of their modern lenses are AF-S equivalent. They don't have regular AF/AF-D lenses, so there's always been a motor to operate the aperture. Nikon just recently started adding a motor to do the same on their AF-S lenses for Live View.
