p.1 #1 · Beaches @ Plymouth MA

Those of you growing up in the USA remember Plymouth Rock, the Pilgrims and the first thanksgiving celebrated by the settlers. Here are a few images from the beaches showing the quiet beauty of New England.

These are all shot with similar technique, Canon 5Dc or 5D ii, 24-105 and tripod. Nothing fancy.

Your comments and critique are welcome. Hope you like.

1.Ellisville Harbor State Park at sunrise.

2. The dunes on Long Beach. Long Beach is a sand barrier extending a couple of miles and protecting Plymouth Harbor

3. Long Beach at low tide, with draining tidal pools

4. Long Beach at sunset

Nothing fancy........I have those tools too

If you know how to use what you have you are in a good direction IMO
You surely seem to have taken a liking to this area and connected to it in a special way which allowed you to absorb and capture the mood and flow it offered.
Though I think there was bit more color depth to be had in #1 I do like the relaxed feel and the use of the large rocks in this comp both on the beach and in the water.
#2 Nice meandering line to carry me from bottom to distant center, very nice
#3 my favorite of the set. Really enjoying the water and reflections, really appreciating the vibrant greens too! The comp for me is just excellent and nice level horizon and nice sky filling clouds...........Super!
#4 are these the post from image #2 about midway? The light here is very special and the long shadows seem to pull me from right to left to appreciate the nicely lit dune bank.........great end of day image

#3 is my favorite shot here. Though I could change that to #1 if the shot had some proper contrast in it. The lack of contrast, perhaps too much shadow or highlight recovery hurts the shot.

I'm local to this area and your images capture the beauty of it. Nicely done.

@Karl Witt
Thanks for taking the time to write a critique. Greatly appreciated. FYI, you are correct in thinking the posts in #4 are the same as those in #2. Just goes to show that the light does matter.

@ VicZig

I think we may have met at a PDP event. You may be interested to know that #1 and #3 were made on PDP meetups. In any event, thanks for your encouragement.
