p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Canon 500D Questions

I am dipping my toes into the macro world with a 500D lens instead of dedicated lens.

Is there a multiplier/divisor, formula or rule of thumb for adding this piece of glass to a lens and getting a focus distance or range for the setup?

I have been adding this to a 70-200 2.8 IS and a 300 4 along with switching out extenders and by the time I figure out whats on the camera is not going to work, what I have been trying to shoot has finished up what it has been doing at the spot I was focusing on.

I have a feeling I am on track for an exciting afternoon of taking pictures of a yard stick.

Thanks

500 D stands for 500mm divided by 25mm = 20 so this is tell you that you are going to have a working distance of approx 20 inches , more like 18 + it makes no difference if you have a 1.4x or 2x extender on , your working distance is fixed . with use you will be able to judge your distance as you set up .
