Taken with my 5D and new-to-me 70-200 2.8 IS v1.

Your thoughts? Wondering if I should make the second one a little darker?

Besides the question of darkening the second, can you clarify what your questions and goals were with these images?

Well, the main goal was to try out the lens.

I liked the first image with the large well illuminated structure and the lone bench looking tiny in comparison, but I don't think the bench has as much prominence as it could.

I liked the second image because I thought the contrast between the afternoon light and the shadows worked pretty well. Was somewhat trying to imitate other pillar/shadow images I've seen.

First could use some perspective correction. Building appears to be leaning away. No fault of the lens.
Should be a nice lens to work with. Are you planning to do some portraits with it? Add a tele-extender?
