I liked the first image with the large well illuminated structure and the lone bench looking tiny in comparison, but I don't think the bench has as much prominence as it could.
I liked the second image because I thought the contrast between the afternoon light and the shadows worked pretty well. Was somewhat trying to imitate other pillar/shadow images I've seen.
First could use some perspective correction. Building appears to be leaning away. No fault of the lens.
Should be a nice lens to work with. Are you planning to do some portraits with it? Add a tele-extender?
