The 35mm 2.0 has been my primary lens from back in my film days. I transitioned from my old F3HP with 35mm 2.0 AIS to a D200 with 35mm 2.0 AFD. It is my favorite all around lens. I get great sharpness and color rendition from both the AF and MF version.
Some time ago I purchased a 24mm 2.8 AFD thinking I would get the same quality as with my 25mm 2.8 AIS (following along the lines of my 35mm duo), but I was wrong. The 24 AFD was far bellow the quality and performance of the AIS version. I ended up returning it. I mention this so you won't think I'm just an eager Nikon fan-boy (despite having been using Nikon equipment continually since 1984). Test results provided by others are irrelevant to me as I have many years of hands-on experience with these lenses.
