And I doubt any of the crabs in these images were happy at all. I find markets like these rather depressing for the animals of course.
This fish market was right across the street from Zhenru Temple. I could not help but be amazed at the staggering contrast. The temple teaches compassion for all beings, and right outside its front door these beings are being chopped up alive.
Amazing.....
The worst (?) I ever saw in China (British Hong Kong at the time), was at a local street market.
A woman shopper was squeezing a live chicken, and then handed it to the shopkeeper. He took the lid off a huge vat of boiling water, dropped the clucking chicken into it and closed the lid.
A couple of minutes later, he removed the chicken, shook it a couple of times, and wrapped it in newspapers.
The shopper handed him some money, took the chicken and walked away.
I know, every time I eat chicken, the same basic kind of thing happens, but it somehow seems different.
